How Much Is The Doggy In The Window?

Just so you know, I am not for sale. Even if my Mom tells me that she is going to sell me when she is mad, I know she doesn’t really mean it. I just like to sit in the big window where I can see the horses (from a safe distance) and the big cows across the street (also from a safe distance) and I feel like I know what is going on in the world. Of course the big dogs like to jump up and scratch and slobber on the window, which makes my view a little blurry sometimes, but it is cool cause I know they can’t get me when I am in my window. This is also an excellent place to catch some sun. All I need now is a cold drink and some snacks and I am set! Do you have a window to sit in? If you don’t you should get one. Just a suggestion: If it starts to hail, the window seat is not a great place to be so you should move to a safer location. My last hailstorm sent me running to hide in the closet. Not that I was scared, it was just a good move for me. The closet is super safe, but no sun. I guess it is good that I have options.

Are you ready for some Football?

I am loving me some football. First of all, people get all excited while watching the game and the potato chips are flying as much as the football. This leaves some nice little snacks for me to discover even a few days after the game is over. It is like a week long tail gate party, or in my case, a tail wagging party. Then there is the yelling. At first I thought it was me doing something wrong aaagain, but it is someone else who is in trouble. It is really nice to watch someone else getting the verbal spanking. A couple of weeks ago, the Broncos played their first game and I got to have my picture on the ColoradoCanine Orthopedics’ Facebook page sporting my brand new Broncos jersey. So just in case you are not keeping track of me on Facebook, I wanted to share my new threads with my blog followers as well. I must say I look pretty sharp in it and so far, each time I wear it, the Broncos have won. I don’t think this is a coincidence. I should be there mascot or maybe even own the team. Of course if that were the case the name would have to change to the Denver Chihuahuas. It has a nice ring to it don’t you think?

Doctor in the house

I think I could be a Doctor. It is a very important job and you have credentials and letters behind your name. Everyone calls you Doctor and looks up to you. In my case, people might look down on me but that is just because I am short. You get to help people or pets which could be very rewarding if you aren’t selfish and motivated by “what’s in it for me?” Ok, maybe I wouldn’t be very good at the rewarding stuff, but I could do the prestige thing really well. Recently, I had my picture taken with my friend Scot Swainson DVM, DACVS from Colorado Canine Orthopedics. I even got to wear my own little Doctor outfit.  He is a really great guy and he likes the whole helping people and their pets’ thing. He is a board certified surgeon and he gets to cart around a few letters after his name. I don’t think his importance has gone to his head and you can’t really say that about me so maybe I wouldn’t be a good Doctor. There are too many sacrifices that might take away from ME time. I do still want to get some letters after my name though….

Laboring at Leisure

There was a holiday earlier this week and I am afraid that some of you may be confused about the meaning of the day. Labor sometimes means work, but in the dog world, Labor Day means- Laying Around Being Overly Relaxed. For me, Labor Day is every day, so I don’t need a special reason to celebrate and the barbeques would be hard to pull off every day. I understand that for people, there must be a reason to take a day off and hang out, but for me it is a well-established pattern of R & R. I think that you should take lessons from me on how to relax and rid yourself of stress. My meditation consists of spending time under my blanket or sleeping in my bag. It is quiet and warm and sometimes no one even knows that I am there. It is the perfect getaway! I will be happy to be your vacation consultant or travel agent. My instructions will lead you to your own big blanket or a really big fuzzy bag to crawl into. Trust me, the next holiday that rolls around will have you thanking me and saving all kinds of money on hotels and gas.
