LITTLE DOG- BIG LIFE

As Chuck's Mom and servant for the last 11 and 1/2 years, I have been entrusted with writing his last blog. Chuck was having some medical issues and was having trouble even walking. We made the choice to try surgery to see if we could fix him. The surgery went great and everything looked hopeful, but he was not able to breathe on his own after the surgery. We made the heartbreaking choice of letting him go. As I write this, I am struck by this little snarky dog that was loved by so many. He was fiercely loyal to those he knew but not so nice to anyone else who got their hand too close to his mouth. I would always tell him "no biting" and he would yawn as if he weren't really planning on biting that person. Each week for the last 8 years, he would show me some silly or naughty thing and that was the blog for the week. He was the perfect combination of rotten and nice and no matter how bad he was, he would always turn it around by being cute and sweet. Like a pro, he would pose for his blog pictures no matter what stupid outfit I put him in. I know he would want me to thank his blog fans for all of the support and love over the years. I remember a blog where he was grounded for doing something super naughty and all these people responded with their support of him and saying I was wrong. Go figure. He was also thankful to all of our wonderful Doctors who took care of him over the years, even at the risk of losing a finger or two. His Dad and I will forever miss our first little dog and so many others will miss him too. Chuck would tell you...."Spoil your dogs, even when they are misbehaving because that is what dogs like to do! If you throw a little bit of ham in the mix, we will behave better!" As we say goodbye to our little ham loving dog, we will remember all of the funny and crazy things he did. We have a million pictures of Chuck, so it was hard to choose, but these are some of our favorites.

GREEN GRASS

FIRST THING IN THE MORNING - GOOD SMELLS!

AFTERNOON- GOOD SMELLS!
When the grass is green, I can smell all of the best smells.  Summer has such great smells. Sometimes I can smell the neighbor's barbeque as if it were in my own yard. It makes me want to sneak out of the house and go visit them for a while. Of course, I would get in lots of trouble, but I think it would be worth it. Their grass smells different from mine depending on how many dogs they have. I think it is funny how we dogs are able to differentiate all the other dogs just by smelling the grass. How funny would it be if people did that too? You would see people out smelling their lawns to see who has been there. You should try it. It makes you a "nose detective" just like me.

CHI-BUNNY BLOG STEALER

THIS IS MY FACE RIGHT BEFORE I START HOWLING!

I LOVE SUMMER ACCESSORIES!
This is my attempt at a blog steal and I must say I feel very empowered. Chuck would never suspect me because I am shy and cute and I don't ever rock the boat. I am fairly silent most of the time, but I do howl like a squalling child on some occasions. If Chuck and I howl at the same time, it is fairly annoying as we try to outdo each other in our noisiness. I like to think that I am the winner but Chuck is a champion howler. I guess I should just be honored to be in the competition at all. I don't really have anything to write about, but I want to wish everyone a happy summer!!

STARS, STRIPES, AND PIE

Over the years I have shown how patriotic I am each and every 4th of July. My pictures show a super American Chihuahua who is celebrating the country's holiday. However, we all know that I am just posing for photos and wearing my red, white, and blue just to get to the food part of the holiday. It isn't that the above stuff isn't true, it is just that I am more motivated by food than I am in other things. I get the symbolism and traditional celebrations, but I just want a hot dog and some pie, please.

BREAKFAST IN BED?

WAITING IMPATIENTLY....

SNACKS AT LAST. I WON'T LOSE ANY CRUMBS IN MY BED!
Do you get to eat your food in bed? I bet not. I don’t actually get my breakfast in bed, but I do frequently get snacks in bed. This is a lovely treat that I deserve for being such a loving little dog. I think that snacking in bed is the ultimate spoilage because I eat my snack and then get to go to sleep right where I am. No climbing under the covers or counting the steps to reach my nap oasis. I am already there. It would be cool for you to try this to, though be careful, you might not get out of bed ever again!

Buck's Blog

BIG DOG- NOT A CHIHUAHUA

DO YOU SEE THE SIZE DIFFERENCE HERE?
You know that the little dogs like to be in charge all of the time. Chuck is the worst. He runs the house and you would think that I am a little dog and not big enough to be in charge. I am as patient as I can be with him because I don't want to get in trouble, but sometimes I want to put my big paw on his head and remind him that I am way bigger than he is! Stealing his blog and naming it after myself makes me feel a little bit more confident in my big dog status. Have you ever met people like that who think they are way more important than they are? Part of you just wants to put them in their place!!! It feels good!

YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING!!!

NO, THIS IS NOT A BASEBALL CAP...IT IS A WINTER HAT!!!!
What month is it? Is it January? No. Is it February? No. It is June. On Tuesday, it was snowing when I woke up in the morning. Yes, I said snow. I was going to go outside and then turned right around and had to pee somewhere else. This is summer. I want sunshine and lovely weather. A little rain is ok, but NO SNOW. Please call Mother Nature again and let her know how upset I am about this horrific event!

SUMMER MEMORIES

Every time that summer rolls around, I like to think about all of my fun summer activities. Just the nice weather and smells of summer bring back all of those memories. I just felt like taking a little trip down summer memory lane with you. Think of your own summer memories and build some new ones this year!

BRING ON THE HEAT, BUT I STILL WANT MY BLANKET!

I know that you think I spend too much time in bed, but that is what I am good at, well, that and eating. Now that the weather is getting warmer, I find myself waking up without my blanket. Did I push it off myself because I got too warm or are the girls trying to steal it? It makes me feel naked and exposed. Do you ever feel like that? If so, it is best if you are at home at the time.

STEALING THE BLOG!

I MIGHT BE CUTER THAN CHUCK DON'T YOU THINK?
Chuck is sleeping and I am not. I think that I should take this opportunity to steal his blog. He is so greedy about his blogging stuff and does not ever share the limelight. I know you might not believe it, but Chuck is one selfish little dog. The whole world revolves around him and Lacey and I don't exist unless there is a snack he needs to steal from us. The rest of the time he is hiding under his blanket and I say good riddance. So here I am with nothing to write about, but I am just happy to be in the spotlight. Sometimes we girls just have to stand around and look cute!

THE STAGES OF CHUCK SLEEP

PRETTY MUCH IN LA LA DREAMLAND!
We all have our special sleeping habits and we protect them at all costs. My Mom has to sleep with a fan on, my Dad likes to sleep through television shows. We can each say some weird sleep thing that we have going on. I don't like to be woken up for anything. Well, it is ok to wake me up for food, a lively party featuring food, a movie about food or a sporting event where food is present. Other than that, don't do it. The snark will come out for sure if you disturb my pleasant slumber. I have featured 3 photos showing my stages of sleep. Please note that #2 is the most concerning of all and I think you should be scared for sure!!!!!

WHHATT? WHHHAT DO YOU WANT?

WHERE ARE MY NACHOS?

NOW I JUST NEED A LITTLE GUITAR AND A TIP JAR!
For Cinco De Mayo I got all dressed up and waited for my ride to the local Chihuahua bar only to find out that they aren't open. I then tried to celebrate on my own but no one brought me my little brewsky or my celebratory nachos. Where is my delivery service? I hope that the next holiday is not disrupted like this. I should maybe have a backup plan and get something going now for Memorial Day. I wonder if I can get some hot dogs pre-ordered with guaranteed delivery. I could start hoarding potato chips now so that I am sure to have plenty. You should do the same just not with potato chips. Pick something else!

MUZZLES SUCK

I can't wait until people can stop wearing muzzles everyday. It makes them snarky and I am afraid that they want to bite me when they take them off. It is a shame that they are trying to copy the dogs and not doing a very good job at it. When we have a muzzle on, it kind of makes us look tough and fierce. We may hate them, but we wear them well. People just look like they are going to rob a bank or something. Anyway, let's look to a muzzle-less future for all of the people!!!!!

NEW BED= HAPPINESS

SEE WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!!!!
My Mom got me a new bed and it is super squishy and fuzzy and comfy. A bed is almost as important as food. If you can't sleep good, the ham just doesn't taste as good. OK, so that isn't true. Ham always tastes good, but it is wonderful to sleep off a good ham binge in a good bed. If you are struggling with sleep, you might need a new bed and you might want to try a good old fashion food frenzy to get you in the mood for that much-needed sleep.

HIDING OUT

YOU CAN HARDLY SEE ME RIGHT?

Since I am in hiding, you might not be able to see this blog, but I am typing really quietly so that no one will know that I am here. Since my medical emergency last week, my Mom has been taking me to work with her. I know this is just so that she can keep an eye on me, but I am a little bit paranoid that someone is going to try to take my blood or do some other annoying test. I have decided to stay in my kennel as much as possible. My Mom set up a nice little bed for me, but it is too exposed and anyone could see me. Don't tell anyone where I am at. If you ever need that favor from me, I will cover for you too!

LOOK AT THAT NICE FLUFFY BED MY MOM MADE UP FOR ME....IT'S A TRAP!!!!

SPREADING THE LOVE

NOT MY BEST PHOTO- I COULDN'T EVEN POSE PROPERLY

I am writing this blog on my first day home from being in the ICU for the last 3 days. This was not my plan because I know I wasn’t supposed to leave my house, but I had a medical crisis and thank goodness the Animal ER Care was open and ready to take care of me. They were super nice and I hardly tried to bite them at all. (I wasn’t being my normal self) I was transferred to Internal Medicine the next morning and was lucky enough to get Dr. Hines to figure out what was wrong with me. I only got to have him for a day and then I got Dr. McReynolds (he is the one who gave me Circus Animal Crackers the last time we were together) and he has taken good care of me too. It is never fun to be sick, but it is good to have these super nice people to take care of you. I will have to be careful moving forward because there were some issues with my heart and I might have had a blood clot to my lungs. I am guessing that I can still spend lots of time under my blanket, but maybe no basketball games or cross- country skiing. I hope this won’t change my food plan, but if it does, there aren’t many things that I won’t eat so I should be good. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I will try to keep you updated on my recovery, but I might be really busy sleeping.

SCHEDULE CHANGES

DO I LOOK COMFORTABLE TO YOU? NO, I AM RESTLESS FROM BEING DISTURBED!!!!
It has been nice having my parents home a little bit more, but they are kind of noisy. Loud TV, loud cooking in the kitchen, loud comings and goings from the front door to the back door. How is a guy supposed to get any sleep? I am required to bark anytime there is a disturbance. This is a dog law that applies specifically to little dogs who have to sound fierce and annoying just to get our point across. I am not sure what point that is, but I do it anyway. It is a relief when my parents head out to go to work and I can resume my normal sleeping routine. As many people have changes in their schedules right now, please remember that your dogs have a routine and if you could please not disturb them, that would be the best.

A LITTLE LOVE

I AM SORT OF SMILING HERE....OR NOT
I am just going to share some Chihuahua wisdom with you. When things are difficult, you need to remember to love each other. Even if you are six feet apart and wearing a mask, people can still see the smile in your eyes. If you need to crawl under your blanket for a little while, that is ok too. Just remember to come out with a smile on your face. I don't always do this because I don't like to be bothered, but you people need to do it!

AN INTERVIEW IN WAITING

With everything going on in the world, I am a little surprised that no one is interviewing me during this crisis. I have first-hand knowledge of the whole self -quarantine thing. I have been doing it for years. I stay in my own bed, I stay away from the other dogs unless I am stealing their food. I don't like to be around anyone unless I am getting ham out of the interaction. I am concerned that the grocery stores might be running low on ham. Lucky for me, I don't eat toilet paper.

St. Chuck's Day

I THINK I AM HANDSOME ENOUGH TO BE A SAINT!!!
Could I be a Saint like Patrick (whoever he is)? He gets a whole day dedicated to him. That day includes a day filled with lots of good food and green beer! People wear green and dress up in all kinds of goofy things. My day would be full of good food too, but I think that I would like people to dress up like me with cute outfits and the beer doesn't have to be green just cold! My day would also include a no work on that day policy with everyone staying home and thinking about me. Do I sound like a Saint yet, deserving my own day? Let's get this going!!!!
