LITTLE DOG- BIG LIFE

As Chuck's Mom and servant for the last 11 and 1/2 years, I have been entrusted with writing his last blog. Chuck was having some medical issues and was having trouble even walking. We made the choice to try surgery to see if we could fix him. The surgery went great and everything looked hopeful, but he was not able to breathe on his own after the surgery. We made the heartbreaking choice of letting him go. As I write this, I am struck by this little snarky dog that was loved by so many. He was fiercely loyal to those he knew but not so nice to anyone else who got their hand too close to his mouth. I would always tell him "no biting" and he would yawn as if he weren't really planning on biting that person. Each week for the last 8 years, he would show me some silly or naughty thing and that was the blog for the week. He was the perfect combination of rotten and nice and no matter how bad he was, he would always turn it around by being cute and sweet. Like a pro, he would pose for his blog pictures no matter what stupid outfit I put him in. I know he would want me to thank his blog fans for all of the support and love over the years. I remember a blog where he was grounded for doing something super naughty and all these people responded with their support of him and saying I was wrong. Go figure. He was also thankful to all of our wonderful Doctors who took care of him over the years, even at the risk of losing a finger or two. His Dad and I will forever miss our first little dog and so many others will miss him too. Chuck would tell you...."Spoil your dogs, even when they are misbehaving because that is what dogs like to do! If you throw a little bit of ham in the mix, we will behave better!" As we say goodbye to our little ham loving dog, we will remember all of the funny and crazy things he did. We have a million pictures of Chuck, so it was hard to choose, but these are some of our favorites.

GREEN GRASS

FIRST THING IN THE MORNING - GOOD SMELLS!

AFTERNOON- GOOD SMELLS!
When the grass is green, I can smell all of the best smells.  Summer has such great smells. Sometimes I can smell the neighbor's barbeque as if it were in my own yard. It makes me want to sneak out of the house and go visit them for a while. Of course, I would get in lots of trouble, but I think it would be worth it. Their grass smells different from mine depending on how many dogs they have. I think it is funny how we dogs are able to differentiate all the other dogs just by smelling the grass. How funny would it be if people did that too? You would see people out smelling their lawns to see who has been there. You should try it. It makes you a "nose detective" just like me.

CHI-BUNNY BLOG STEALER

THIS IS MY FACE RIGHT BEFORE I START HOWLING!

I LOVE SUMMER ACCESSORIES!
This is my attempt at a blog steal and I must say I feel very empowered. Chuck would never suspect me because I am shy and cute and I don't ever rock the boat. I am fairly silent most of the time, but I do howl like a squalling child on some occasions. If Chuck and I howl at the same time, it is fairly annoying as we try to outdo each other in our noisiness. I like to think that I am the winner but Chuck is a champion howler. I guess I should just be honored to be in the competition at all. I don't really have anything to write about, but I want to wish everyone a happy summer!!

STARS, STRIPES, AND PIE

Over the years I have shown how patriotic I am each and every 4th of July. My pictures show a super American Chihuahua who is celebrating the country's holiday. However, we all know that I am just posing for photos and wearing my red, white, and blue just to get to the food part of the holiday. It isn't that the above stuff isn't true, it is just that I am more motivated by food than I am in other things. I get the symbolism and traditional celebrations, but I just want a hot dog and some pie, please.
