HALF FULL OR HALF EMPTY

I GOT NOTHING!

There is no question about being positive or negative. I think I am a positive kind of guy, but the truth is my treat ball is EMPTY! I can’t sugarcoat it or say it nicely. There are no noises in the ball as I am pushing it around. There are no little snackies dropping out and that is an issue for me. I need a refill and I need one now. The ball was made to have treats in it! It has a purpose and that is to give me a reward for pushing it around. I am patient and persistent while pushing my ball around, but no amount of persistence can create treats in the ball if it is EMPTY! Does this whole scenario ring true for you in certain areas of your life? You work at something, you try to be patient and then you get the shaft. I know…it is not fair. I think as a group we need to be more demanding when it comes to emptiness that should be fullness! If we speak up, maybe our treat balls will be full again. Join me in fighting against emptiness. We want full, full. Not half full. I am POSITIVE that this is what I want!

EVERY DAY IS A GIFT

I always try to write my blogs with fun thoughts and witty stuff. This week I must write a tribute to my big brother and alpha dog Sabre who left us to go to dog heaven. I promised him that I would make this a celebration of his great dog life cause he wouldn't want us to be sad. He was the smartest dog (even smarter than me.) He used to get the paper for my Dad. He would find it no matter where it landed. He even got a paper from an unknown house in New York when he travelled there once. He would slip off the couch right before my Dad would come home knowing that my Dad didn’t want him up there, but my Mom would sneak him up there all of the time. He was the alpha at our house and even I had to follow his lead. It was ok with me since he was a pretty good guy. I know that we will miss him so much, but I know he would just want us to remember how great it was having him for as long as we did. I don’t think I can fill his paws as the alpha dog. I may be a little too short and maybe too snarky. Hug and love on your great dogs and remember every day is a little gift!

LUNCH DATE

LOOK- HERE WE ARE CHECKING OUT EACH OTHER'S TEETH!

I went to my Mom’s work to visit last week and I had a little ham lunch date with my friend Dr. Tony Woodward. He offered to buy me some lunch so I jumped in my little carrier and went for a ride. Usually I would rather stay home and meditate in my blanket, but I really like Dr. Woodward. He knows my quirks and he likes me anyway. He also knows that I am a sucker for ham and will perform tricks or take long car rides or whatever it takes. We met at his office and true to his word he had possession of the ham. We made the exchange quickly with no fuss. He is smart too since he knows to feed me like a horse with his palms open. (I am not so good when there are fingers involved). It was a lovely experience except for the little Boston Terrier that was watching the whole ham thing and decided that he wanted in on the action. The little jerk got away with some of MY ham. Can you believe it? Next time we will meet in private where there are no other dogs trying to get a piece of what is mine. So there!

CHIHUAHUA TACO

LOOK BELOW FOR ME IN THE MORE TACO LIKE PICTURE!
For Christmas I got a new dog bed that I love. It has a cool flappy like thing that I can crawl under and no one can see me! I am tucked in there like a Chihuahua taco. Don’t you think that it is ironic that a taco is a Mexican food that I love and my new bed reminds me of a taco and Mexico is the homeland of my ancestors and they probably loved tacos too? Wow that was a little bit of a run on sentence. It was exhausting just writing it. I may have to go lay down now in my taco bed. Wait….something else just popped in my little big head: It could be like a Chihuahua burrito too, which is also a Mexican food that I love. Help me out here. Is it a taco bed or a burrito bed? Either way I am getting really hungry just talking about this. My little nap may have to wait until I am done at the Mexican buffet. I want tacos and burritos all at the same time! If I could eat them in my new bed, that would be tremendous!

HAPPY YOU YEARS DAY!

Did I say you? I meant Happy Me Years Day! It is the time of yearly celebration of ME and all of the important things that I will accomplish in the New Year. 1st on my list is more time spent with ham. I have put this on the top of my list and I hope that everyone in my household will accommodate my resolution. If they don’t, please feel free to send me ham anytime you want to! 2nd on my list is sharing my ham. (just kidding, that would never happen) Seriously the 2nd thing on my list is more time looking in the mirror. I just catch a glimpse of me now and then, but I am pretty cute and I would like to see some more of me. 3rd on my list would be more quality sleep time. I am often disturbed while trying to sleep by the other pesky dogs in my house and I think I need to get some of those noise cancelling head phones. Do they come in my size? That is as far as I have gotten on my New Years list, but I will keep adding to it until I feel that sense of accomplishment that comes from setting goals. I try to set realistic goals so that I don’t disappoint myself. I don’t think that could ever happen, but I don’t want to push my luck. Keep your goals realistic and make sure they involve food and vanity like mine OK?

FLEAS NAVI DOG!

I understand holidays and the celebration there of, but why would anyone celebrate fleas on their dog. I was thrilled when I first heard the little Mexican tune as it reminded me of my homeland, but the more I listened, the more concerned I was. Certainly there is a good reason to write a song about dogs and wishing them a Merry Christmas, but not at the expense of us poor helpless dogs who suffer from flea infestation. I hope you have a lovely Christmas and enjoy your loved ones and your furry loved ones too. Just be sure to check them for fleas. You never know what Santa might leave behind.

KEEP YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE COOKIE JAR!

I went to my Mom’s work this week to spread some Chuck Christmas cheer and I found something a little bit scary. There was a Chihuahua sitting on top of the counter in the Rehab area. I have never been introduced to this dog so what is he doing hanging out in my space? I am the only Chihuahua allowed to hang out here. (I thought this was common knowledge, but I guess I will have to send out another memo) Anyway, as I got closer, I noticed that there were some pretty good smells coming out of this dog. He was sitting perfectly still which I thought was kind of creepy and then I smelled it. A hint of Pupperoni. As I got even closer, I noticed how shiny this dog was. What is he eating that gives him that shine? Maybe it is Pupperoni. As I got really close, to my horror someone removed his head! I know! Then I could really smell the Pupperoni. I barked to myself, this isn’t a dog, it is a Chihuahua cookie jar! Holy cow, how lucky could I be? I am now much happier about this whole situation. No dog competition and a whole jar of treats for me. Merry Christmas indeed.
